Brazil covers nearly half of South America and is the continent's largest nation & the fifth largest country in the world, in land mass and in population. It extends 2,965 mi (4,772 km) north-south, 2,691 mi (4,331 km) east-west, and borders every nation on the continent except Chile and Ecuador. Although eighty percent of Brazil is Catholic, we will have total freedom of religion with no problems from the Catholic church. Brazilians speak the language of Portuguese and live in very large, modern cities with only four percent of Brazilians living in the Amazon.

Public Holidays : Although there are festivals taking place all year round in Brazil , the country's most famous event is Carnival, which lasts for five days from the Friday to the Tuesday immediately preceding Ash Wednesday. It is celebrated all over Brazil and there are more authentic versions than the glitzy tourist drawcard held in Rio ; but Rio 's is a fantastic spectacle nonetheless. In its sambódromo, a tiered street designed for samba parades, there is a frenzy of sweat, sequins, noise and mayhem as the 16 top samba schools each have their hour of glory.
