Belem Information:
Belém is one of Brazil's busiest ports. The city of Belém, capital of Pará, is full of indentations and recesses forming islands all around it. Belem includes the islands of Mosqueiro - fringed by fourteen fresh water beaches - and Caratateua, which receive a large number of visitors in summertime. Belém is famous for its Emílio Goeldi Museum; founded in 1866 and known world-wide as the most important centre for the study of and research into the natural history of the Amazon Rain Forest, Museums more than two thousand species of plants and around six hundred animals. In many ways, Belém's colonial architecture reflects the seventeenth century architecture of Lisbon in Portugal. Many of the buildings at the end of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century also echo French architecture.

Bosque Rodriguez Alves:
Botanical Park created in 1883; Botanical Park is an ecological reserve as well as a leisure area for the local population. This park spread in 170,000 square Meters. In This Park 2.500 forest species of the park were not planted, but are natural and were simply enclosed to provide a reminder of the wild Amazon forest.sss

 

Lauro Sodre Palace:
The beautiful Lauro Sodre is located on Praça Dom Pedro, an 18th-century Italianate building that contains Brazil's largest framed painting, The Conquest of Amazonia.

Basílica de Nazaré:

Tijuca Forest
This is the world's largest urban forest. Hundreds of species of plants and wildlife found only in the Atlantic Rainforest covering some 3,200 hectares. The Tijuca Forest was reforested in the middle of the 19 Century after years of intense deforesting and planting (specially coffee plantations). The replanting was a pioneer initiative in all Latin America. Just a short drive from the financial center downtown, the North Zone and Rio's smart beach districts, its attractions include the Cascatinha Waterfall, the Mayrink Chapel, the Excelsior Lookout Point, the Paul and Virginia Grotto, Fairy Lake and, all favorite destinations for weekend family outings.

The Climate of Belem is hot and wet. Belém, the capital, has an average annual temperature of 26,5 degrees Celsius, and a pluviosity of 2,800 mm per annum. There is not a dry season in Belém, but most of the state sees a slight decline in pluviosity from July through October. Most of the terrain of the state is of plain, low altitude areas. Chains of mountains both in the north and in the south (border of the Brazilian Plateau).
